In this penultimate round of 2008 AFL football, the makeup of this year’s top eight has finally been decided. The round’s biggest loser was Brisbane, who in throwing away a seemingly unassailable lead at home against Carlton, have doomed themselves to a summer of “what ifs”, whereas St.Kilda cement their place in this year’s final series with an emotional win over Adelaide at the Telstra Dome. The only thing left to ponder now is just who plays who in the first week of September.
It was tight at the top in Round 21 insofar as player rankings were concerned with only 10 Fantasy Footy points separating our five leading players. Geelong led the way as usual with its dynamic duo of Bartell and Corey gathering an amazing 74 possessions between them, with honourable mentions to Richmond’s Shane tuck and St.Kilda’s Brendon Goddard who played their best games of the year for their respective clubs.
The Round 21 winner of the weekly prize of the $100 Sports Acumen free bet is the blocka team finishing in first place with an excellent 1805 points. The BECKERSAINTS team finish in second place just five points behind with an even 1800 points and win the $30 free bet. And in third place this week are the g_suttler team with 1794 points and they win the $10 free bet. In the Year to Date ladder the Red & White Army leap into first place on 35467 points followed closely by the Bombs Away team who drop into second spot on 35447 points.
